Do not drink the tap water. It is fine for bathing and for doing dishes, but not drinkable. Large bottles of water are provided in the kitchen. You may wish to fill canisters which are located in the cabinet under the sink for use in the bathrooms. To wash fruits and vegetables, run a sink full of tap water and add several drops of the antibacterial product which is found under the sink. Soak veggies for 15 minutes; drain, dry and refrigerate.

Most of the time the trade winds offer a wonderful natural air conditioning. Generally, leaving the top sliding windows above the sliding glass doors provides wonderful ventilation. Always take care that if outside doors are left open that screens are closed and that the breeze is not so powerful that it will damage draperies or blow things over inside. Please be very careful to use door stops on inside wooden doors or close the doors tightly to avoid very harsh, damaging slamming from the crosswind. Air conditioning units are provided in each bedroom and in the kitchen for your comfort. Each has a remote control located on a wall nearby. Please be conservative by closing all windows in the room when the air conditioner is in use.
turn on by pressing on/off on remote control
control temp by pushing up and down arrows ( normal would be 23 C.)
sleep timer – set for hours you want it on
the fan & flap can be turned to desired speed/tilt by opening front of remote and pressing the fan & flap buttons
Please be conservative with use of air conditioners, turn air conditioner off when you leave.

Any time you leave the premises, or before going to bed, lock all doors,
even upstairs. For ventilation, open the small windows above the
sliding glass doors and the bathroom windows. We have heard of
burglaries in the area when doors have been left open or unlocked.
There is a safe located in the closet of the downstairs master bedroom
for storing valuables. The combination is on a paper inside the safe.
Before storing items, try the combination, then store the combin
ation is
a safe spot. (Luis and Honorio do have a
copy of the combination.) Do use care as we are not responsible for
loss of valuables. It is a good idea to tell the caretakers when you
are leaving so they can keep watch.
A security guard will be posted on the premises between dusk and dawn.

Bedding will be changed twice a week unless special request is made to the caretakers. Bath towels and beach towels are provided in each bathroom. If you find it possible to reuse towels, please hang them up. If they are dirty leave them on the floor and they will be replaced. Water is a precious commodity, so conserve whenever possible. Personal items can be laundered upon request for 50 pesos. An iron and ironing board are available, ask Silvia.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed for meal preparation. The dishes and appliances are for your use. To light the stove, open the glass top which becomes a splash guard, turn the desired burner handle to the first notch while pressing the little round button with a star on it that makes a clicking sound and is located on the left hand front of the stove. Close the refrigerator door tightly or the motor will overheat and food will spoil.
The floor is made of terra cotta tile which is difficult to maintain but which adds so much to the beauty. It can be damaged by anything acetic and both the tile and the wood scratch easily so please use care. It is also slippery when wet.
The outdoor furniture can be moved to a desired location at the pool or on the beach. If spills occur on the chair or couch pads, please wipe up immediately or notify the maid.
Doors can slam so easily due to the breezes. Please take utmost care to use door stops or close doors securely.
Check in time is 3:00 p.m. Keys can be obtained from the
caretaker. Check out time is 11:00 a.m. If you need
additional time, please contact Luis.
If you smoke outside, please extinguish and dispose of butts.

There are so many wonderful and unique restaurants in the area. Next
door you will find
the ever popular Casa Cenote.
Good food, fun atmosphere. The Blue Sky is also in walking distance.
It offers wonderful Italian dishes in addition to fresh seafood and
steaks. In Akumal, the
Lol Ha bar and inside restaurant are terrific. There are many
authentic and other Americanized placed in Tulum.

If you would like to arrange for a cook, ask Luis. We recommend Silvia for preparing authentic Mayan meals. If you purchase the groceries, she charges $6.00 US/person plus the cost of supplies. If she purchases the supplies, the cost is $8.00US/person. It is fun to take her to the stores in Tulum and watch her do the shopping.
If you prefer a more gourmet menu, Luis can contact a chef to serve you.
Please arrange for cook service a day in advance.
Please report anything that is broken or malfunctioning immediately. If a light bulb is out, tell Honorio. Our staff will do their best to repair or replace things quickly.
There are several internet cafes in Tulum. Phones are also available there. We also have a phone for use with a Mexican phone card.
